Message: Compassionate Heart

Hello My Friend,

I spent an hour talking to God, wondering why I do not have a heart like Jesus that has compassion on all and is empathetic, regardless of what seems concerning to them. I had convinced myself that I had to have placed a thick skin on my heart that prevents me from feeling any emotion at all. Then Jesus reminded me of something this morning as I was reading the chapter for today, I spent a year and a half opening my heart to a family that never really saw me anything more than someone to feed their flesh. He also reminded me that, even if it takes me all day, I am in His Word every day, studying it and making sure that I not only understand and follow it, but that others can as well. Then this verse came to mind, [2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.] Well, actually it had come to mind even before I started reading the Bible, but it was Jesus that confirmed that I do not need to be ashamed of anything, because I am doing a great work for Him, [John 6:28-29  Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?  29  Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.]

When you think about people, how they perceive things and how they were taught things, you can get a deeper understanding as to why they become who they are. Each and every one of us is actually a reflection of who we get around. Those whom are have no heart for Jesus did not get that way all on their own. And do not let them fool you into believing that they have the same heart for Jesus as you do just because they hang around you. As we continue in the reading of the Gospels, John gives his testimony of what he witnessed when the five thousand were fed. This is the first time I noticed that this is written in all four Gospels. Notice how John words Jesus telling the disciples to, “Give ye them to eat”.

[John 6:2-9  And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.  3  And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.  4  And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.  5  When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?  6  And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.  7  Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. 8  One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,  9  There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?]

[And this he said to prove him:] Remember, Jesus already knows what is going on, this was a crowd of people of whom many had no faith in Him, and even wanted to catch Him doing something so they can prove to those who did that they were fools for believing in Him. [which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes:] This boy was not among the crowd, he was traveling with the disciples. Remember, Jesus also had women and other people with Him besides the twelve who would minister to them. And these were not huge loaves of bread, they were biscuits, and the fish were probably about the size of a sardine. Well, Jesus commanded the disciples to have the people sit down, and again, blessed the food, handed it to the disciples, who distributed to the people.

[John 6:10,12-17  And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.  12  When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.  13  Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.  14  Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.  15  When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. 16  And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,  17  And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.]

[When they were filled,] Whenever I read this I always think about this commentary that I read when I first began reading the Bible, which I later found out had no clue what they were talking about, and that many of them had already had food with them. Well, there is not one indication at all in any of the four Gospels that shows that anyone in that crowd had anything to eat. In fact, the rest of the verse proves that, [Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.] This reminds me that Jesus will never leave one soul behind that puts their faith and trust in Him. And as I sat here for half an hour trying to figure out what God wanted me to point through this verse, here it is, [Genesis 18:32  And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.]

[I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.] This was of course, when God was sending judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham knew that his nephew Lot was among them and feared his life. Jesus is going to return, and with a vengeance, the entire earth will be destroyed, but not before He gathers all of His people, [1 Thessalonians 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:]

[and Jesus was not come to them.] We can thank God for His mercies as He feeds both those saved and lost, in order lead some willing souls to His Son, but eventually those mercies will run out for the lost. And do not think for one second that Jesus does not know who truly believes in Him, even if it takes until the last day they take their breath. The next day after Jesus fed the five thousand even more people were following Him, Some of the people that were in the crowd saw the disciples leave on the ship, but did not see Jesus with them. So, you can imagine their surprise when they saw Jesus with them.

[John 6:24-27,32-33  When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.  25  And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?  26  Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.  27  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 32  Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.  33  For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.]

[Rabbi, when camest thou hither?] Here these people are wondering where in the world He came from when He was on the other side of the water, but Jesus called them out, [Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.] Why are our hearts so inclined to feed those who have no intention of getting saved? Because we have hope that they too will come around. There will be some who will find Jesus through our generous hearts, some will only get saved and do nothing more, but the majority of people who feed off of us will never receive Christ as their Saviour. This also is a reminder that while Jesus will never leave one soul behind, He would save every soul if they let Him, but that that is up to them. It is their choice, and they will have to live with it when mercy runs out for them. You see, when Jesus told them that God had bread that would let them live for ever, they eagerly wanted it.

[John 6:34-40  Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.  35  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.  36  But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.  37  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.  38  For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.  39  And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.  40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.]

[that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing,] There is is again, Jesus will not leave one soul behind! He is going to gather every single soul that receives Him as their Saviour, even all the way back to Adam and Eve. [and I will raise him up at the last day.] When Jesus resurrected, every saved soul that awaited His death and arose went up to heaven with Him, [Matthew 27:52-53  And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,  53  And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.] However, the last day is when Jesus returns, every saved soul that died in the flesh prior to His return, will resurrect and receive new glorified bodies, not to mention everlasting life, [1 Corinthians 15:52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.]

Let me tell you, the world knows that this earth is going to be destroyed, why do you think they are trying to find life on other planets? And they also know that God exists as well, and they want Him to save them, but the sad truth is that they will never accept the fact that they need Jesus for that. Do you think that the did not have to have faith in Jesus as well? Think again, Jesus even stresses this when they began murmuring among themselves over what He had told them.

[John 6:43-48,51  Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.  44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.  45  It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.  46  Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.  47  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.  48  I am that bread of life. 51  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.]

[It is written in the prophets,] They all knew that Jesus was coming to save them, and they too have to believe in this promise, and while they all died well before Jesus gave His life to save them, they still had faith that God was sending Him, and that was what saved them also, [Hebrews 11:13  These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.]

[and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.] And again, we see this right from the Scriptures, how these so called believers responded to Jesus telling them that the bread He had to give them was His flesh, oh, and it gets even more intense, [John 6:52-54,60-63  The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?  53  Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.  54  Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 60  Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?  61  When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?  62  What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?  63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.]

[This is an hard saying; who can hear it?] Okay, so, this is what they were hearing when Jesus told them that God had bread that would give them everlasting life, “God can give us this manna that our forefathers ate that will let us live forever and you know how we can get it.” What Jesus was talking about had nothing to do with any flesh at all, except His own. The only people that can hear what all of this means are those who believe in Christ. And this is why we read the sad reality that many rejected Christ as soon as He said these things.

[John 6:66-71  From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.  67  Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?  68  Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.  69  And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.  70  Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?  71  He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.]

[and walked no more with him.] Everyone wants eternal life, but very few are willing to get it God’s way. They do not want to understand that their souls are dead and without Christ there is no life inside of them at all, let alone one beyond the grave. The world only looks at what it can do to please its flesh, so, any faithful, saved, born again Christian that walks with Christ also feels His pain when they reject Him. I have never felt so broken hearted in my life than to witness someone that I was in love with reject the Bible that I had given him, and to hear his daughter begging him not to let her go to church. That by the way comes from what she was taught, and she was not taught the importance of Jesus, even though he is saved himself. It still breaks my heart as I type this, and that is why it is not that I do not have a compassionate heart, it is that I know that material things amount to nothing, but eternal things amount to everything, even those who reject Christ, [John 5:28-29  Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,  29  And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You, for Your gift of eternal life though my faith in Your Son alone. There is absolutely nothing that I need to do to work for my salvation, but everything I do for You here on out is what leads others to Your Son, or even reject Him. While I cannot do anything, but love them as You do to win them to Your Son, I can continue to keep doing what You have called me to do. It is with a willing and compassionate heart that I even get up every day to hear what You have to say to me, and want to bring others to Him as well. Lord, Lead me and guide me, keep my heart tender for the lost and never let me stop being who I am for I know that my labor is not in vain, and will never return void. I love You and ask these things in Your name, Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
