Message: Pillar To Stand Against Evil

Hello My Friend,

[Pillar; A tower; A kind or irregular column round an insulate, but deviating from the proportions of a just column. A supporter; that which sustains or upholds.] A pillar is more than just some beams used to make buildings look attractive, they are what gives a building the support it needs to sustain it and keep structure from caving in. When we stop to think about our faith in Christ, He is our pillar, the one who sustains us and keeps us from caving it. I woke up this morning asking God why it is that we as Christians are always the target, why is it that we have to take the fall for things we have not done or fell for believing something was true. That was when Jesus reminded me, [Matthew 24:9-13  Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.  10  And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.  11  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  12  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  13  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.]

God has specific rules for a reason, and He bends them for no one, and let me tell you, just because a building has the word church on it, that does not mean God is in it. I Kings goes into more detail about the first temple that was being built for the worship of God, unlike the tabernacle, which was portable, this was a permanent building, which was built on the very spot where David purchased the threshing floor from Ornan to build and altar during the plague that took seventy thousand lives in order to keep from taking any more lives per God’s instructions, [II Samuel 24:18-25].

[1 Kings 5:1-5,12  And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.  2  And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,  3  Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.  4  But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.  5  And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name. 12  And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.]

[neither adversary nor evil occurrent.] [Occurrence; Incident; any thing that happens.] In other words there was nothing that rose up, and met him, to discourage or hinder the good work that he had begun. Do you realize that evil in itself has a season? Famine, war, persecution, poverty, sickness, death, these are all things that only occur for a short time, when we are facing them it feels like a lifetime, but that is what Jesus is for, He is our pillar to hold us up when everything else around us seems to be falling, [1 Thessalonians 3:11-13  Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.  12  And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:  13  To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.]

Solomon was in the forth year of his reign when the building of the temple began, it took seven years to build. All of the beams, boards, and pillars were made of cedar, overlaid in pure gold. I could only imagine what it looked like, how valuable it was, and how many people coveted it. Amazingly, Every piece was fashioned precisely to connect together without the use of one tool.

[1 Kings 6:1-3,7  And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.  2  And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.  3  And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house. 7  And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.]

[was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither:] Since Jesus is our pillar, who we are as a Christian and how Jesus builds us up is dependent upon those evils we endure through Him. Each stone that Jesus places upon His temple, of whom we all are, has been molded and chiseled to fit just right upon each other. That means that stone by stone, Jesus perfects us and creates in us something that resembles Him, [1 Peter 2:20-21  For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.  21  For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:]

[Foundation; The basis or ground work, or any thing; that on which any thing stands, and by which it is supported.] Jesus is not just our pillar, He is also our foundation, the base upon which the pillar stands. Here is the thing, Jesus cannot hold us up if we have have not first established the foundation. You see, Solomon might have been building this beautiful building for God, but unless the proper foundation was laid first, it would just crumble. Four-hundred and eighty years after the Israelites were freed from Egypt, the foundation for the first and only man made building that God would dwell in on earth was laid.

[1 Kings 6:11-14,37-38  And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying,  12  Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:  13  And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.  14  So Solomon built the house, and finished it. 37  In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif:  38  And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.]

[then will I perform my word with thee,] While the temple was being built God saw it necessary to speak to Solomon, reminding him of His promise, but also what was required of him for Him to keep that promise. Do you know why a saved, born again Christian can be at peace during the most difficult times in their lives? They walk with Christ. No, they are by far from being perfect, but they are faithful to Him, and that is all He wants. We are not going to understand everything that happens in our lives, the failures, the tragedies, the shame, the sufferings, the chastisements, but we have peace because we are faithful and know that the greatest blessings come through our suffering, [2 Timothy 2:11-13  It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:  12  If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:  13  If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.]

The temple itself was never built to contain God, Solomon himself said that, a church is a temporary place for believers to worship, God according to His law, not mans. Four-hundred and eighty years after the Israelites were freed from Egypt, the foundation for the first and only man made building that God’s Spirit would dwell in. Chapter 7 goes into more detail about the pillars and furniture inside the building, as well as the items used for the sacrifices and worship.

[1 Kings 7:18-22  And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other chapiter.  19  And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily work in the porch, four cubits.  20  And the chapiters upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the belly which was by the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows round about upon the other chapiter.  21  And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.  22  And upon the top of the pillars was lily work: so was the work of the pillars finished.]

[And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple:] Why did Solomon give these pillars names? Well, these were designed and named specifically for a purpose. [Jachin; He shall establish.], was head over the priests during David’s reign, and [Boaz; Fleetness or swiftness], was the kinsman redeemer who married Ruth, the Moabite, and kept the lineage of Judah going. He is also David’s great-grandfather, and written in the lineage from which Jesus would descend. They were a reminder that God has established His people and they are the pillars that remind Him of His promise. These pillars, believe it or not, also represent every saved, born again Christian who stands upon the foundation of Christ.

[Revelation 3:10-12  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.  11  Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.  12  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.]

I had to include verse 10 regarding patience because that is what God uses to stabilize us as we endure suffering. That is another thing that God had reminded me of this morning, [Hebrews 10:35-36  Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.  36  For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.] God pointed out to me that I have work to finish, and the season of evil that He has allowed that I have also endured has not gone unnoticed, with patience and my completing the work He has for me I will receive the reward. God will not only recompense me for the suffering I endured, but for being faithful to Him during the suffering, [Acts 26:16  But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;]

It is just like what happens when we get deceived by someone, we may suffer for trusting them when we should have been trusting God’s voice inside our head, they will suffer more for having given us false information to begin with. And after God had reminded me that I have work to finish, He also reminded me that I am His and am to never hang my head down in shame of who I am, nor of what He has built upon me with every stone that He places upon His foundation. We are going to have seasons of evil, but we will overcome them, and not only that, our seasons of blessings will be numerously more than the evils, [1 Peter 4:12-13  Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:  13  But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [1 Kings 7:21  And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.]

Today’s Prayer: God, You know how much evil is taking place all over the world today, we, who are Your saved, born again believers may not understand why we are in the midst of the evil, but we do understand that You have a plan and a purpose for our pain, and we will be blessed through it. Jesus, thank You, for being my pillar, for being the one who sustains me, supports me, and keeps me from falling, Lord, Lead us and guide us, cover us under Your precious blood, give us Your power, wisdom, and strength to stand up to this season of evil. Teach us, grow us, fill us with Your mercies, grace, and love toward one another, open each and every heart to come together so that we can release Your power to be the pillar that You need us to be that gives support to the lost, those lost in their way, and those who need to renew their faith. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
