Message: It’s In The Confession

Hello My Friend,

We all get tired, we all get weary, in fact, the more this pandemic lingers and these fools in office overthrow every single act taken to bring this country out if the mess it was in, the more weary we are getting. People, are becoming complacent, living off the subsidies the government is so graciously giving them until the money runs out. Which by the way, they are squeezing out of the few who are working, who can barely afford to provide for their own needs. The Church is becoming complacent, living in fear of the same fools who threaten them with huge fines if they dare open their doors to the public with all the lockdown’s still going on. It is no wonder why there are riots in the streets and we are headed for another civil war, they have not had anything to do for over a year. Jesus warns what happens to those who get complacent, which is another word for being idle.

[Matthew 12:34-37  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.  35  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.  36  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  37  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.]

Those who confess that they are sinners and accept that Jesus is the only one who can save their soul will be justified of their sin. Those who do not will be exposed of the very sins they are guilty of and will be condemned to hell because they never opened their mouths and confessed that they are sinners and need Christ. Now, we come to the sad story of what happens when God’s faithful fall into sin. It all begins by becoming complacent. David was to head up the army as he always did when a battle arose, this time he chose to stay home.

[II Samuel 11:1-5  And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.  2  And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.  3  And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?  4  And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.  5  And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.]

[and she came in unto him,] So, here is David, it is late, probably dusk, just enough light that when he walked over to his window he can see Bathsheba bathing. Of course, she eagerly accepted the invitation to come and spend the night with the king. Their indiscretion was hid until she found out that she was pregnant. What was David to do? They both committed adultery, if it got out then it could mean death for both of them. So, he came up with a plan, if Uriah spent the night with his wife then, no one would find out. Well, his plan did not work.

[II Samuel 11:8-11  And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king’s house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.  9  But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.  10  And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house?  11  And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.]

[I will not do this thing.] Uriah, with all his integrity and honor as a soldier, could not fathom the thought of enjoying the luxuries of home and his wife when his fellow soldiers were fighting for their country. Sin spreads like wildfire, if it does not get addressed and cut off immediately. It does not matter how much we cleanse ourselves from our uncleanness, if we do not confess it to God, and repent, it will get out of hand, and things will become much worse. And things did become much worse for David and Bathsheba, now they had a pregnancy to deal with. David knew he messed up, he would not feared to go to God and chose to deal with it himself instead, and an innocent man lost his life.

[II Samuel 11:14-15,17-21  And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.  15  And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.  17  And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.  18  Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;  19  And charged the messenger, saying, When thou hast made an end of telling the matters of the war unto the king,  20  And if so be that the king’s wrath arise, and he say unto thee, Wherefore approached ye so nigh unto the city when ye did fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall?  21  Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went ye nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.]

[Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth?] Joab, quite upset about what David did, reminds him of what happened to Gideon’s wicked son when he had all the godly sons killed, [Judges 9:52-56  And Abimelech came unto the tower, and fought against it, and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with fire.  53  And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech’s head, and all to brake his skull.  54  Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.  55  And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man unto his place.  56  Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren:]

This was Joab’s way of saying that an innocent mans life ended because of his indiscretion, and it will come back to haunt him. And it certainly did, through it all, God was watching, and He was not happy with the way David handled any of it, [II Samuel 11:25-27  Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.  26  And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.  27  And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.]

[But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.] The thing with dealing with unconfessed sin on your own is that innocent people get involved, and hurt. Do you think that Joab would respect David any further knowing that he had him set Uriah up? Joab, would in fact, turn on David. It is never easy confessing sin, but let me tell you, the fall of trying to deal with it on our own is always much worse. While we will never lose our salvation from sin after we are saved, the repercussions of trying to deal with it on our own are devastating. David found this out first hand when Nathan, the prophet, paid him a visit.

[II Samuel 12:9-14  Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.  10  Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.  11  Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.  12  For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun. 13  And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.  14  Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.]

[but I will do this thing before all Israel,] Sin is not something we take lightly, oh, we are very capable of committing sin, and when we are planning it (yes, we do plan it) it seems like we can handle it. It is our reaction after we sin that is a never ending battle, not only to keep it hidden, but the consequence as well. Let me tell you, sin never goes unpunished, and the more we try to cover it up the longer the punishment, especially once God confronts us about it. The only thing we can do is confess it and ask God to not only forgive us, but to help us endure the judgment. Which is what David did, [Psalms 51:1-4  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.  2  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.  3  For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.  4  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.]

[Against thee, thee only,] We really have no idea how sin impacts our lives until we realize that it is God who we sinned against. And let me tell you, the second we do realize it, the guilt is unbearable, we just have to confess and pray to God that His punishment will not be too severe. I have to confess that I have finally come to grips with the fact that I have an addiction, I cannot eat gluten, the more I do the more my health and everything else suffers. I beg God for His healing, but He will not because I continue to eat bread, thinking that somehow the better made bread will hide the fact that it has even more gluten. Until we admit that we have a problem, God will do nothing for us, but when we do confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive and even cleanse us from it, [I John 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.]

David, cried out to God, knowing the child was going to die as the result of his sin did the only thing left to do. He not only prayed, he fasted as well in the hopes that God would have mercy on the baby.

[II Samuel 12:16,18-23  David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.  18  And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?  19  But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.  20  Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.  21  Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.  22  And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?  23  But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.]

[and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped:] When David realized that the baby died, he immediately cleaned himself up and went to worship God, [Psalms 51:10-19  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.  11  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.  12  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.  13  Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.  14  Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.  15  O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.  16  For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.  17  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.  18  Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.  19  Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.]

[The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:] The amazing thing about God is that His mercy never runs out on His people, He forgives us when we confess our sin no matter how many times we mess up, and although we will be accountable for unrepentant sin, that will never take away our salvation. God knows we are going to mess up as long as we have this flesh, and that is why it means more to Him that we come to Him with a broken heart and spirit rather than a sacrifice, [James 4:5-10  Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?  6  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.  7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.  9  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.  10  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.]

[I shall go to him,] And as for the baby, one would think why did the baby have to suffer, but think about it, this was their illegitimate child. God was protecting this baby from a life of being mocked and put to shame for what David and Bathsheba had done. David knew that he would see his son again, and that was enough to ease the pain of losing the baby. Once David confessed his sins and repented, God forgave him, and I am sure that Bathsheba did the same thing while she was in mourning as God blessed them with another child, [II Samuel 12:24-25  And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.  25  And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.]

[and he called his name Jedidiah,] Solomon’s name was also, Jedidiah, which means “the beloved of the Lord. God does not hold grudges, He does get disappointed with us, but He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin when we confess it. Since the first sin committed, although Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice to save us, salvation has never been about a sacrifice, it has always been about admitting that we sinned, and confessing it to God. Think about it, when Adam and Eve sinned, what angered Him more, the sin or the fact that they hid it and blamed someone else as to why they committed it? Confession is the key, and then God will accept the sacrifice. He will not even accept our coming Him through Christ unless we are sincere about it, [Hebrews 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [II Samuel 11:11  And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Your mercy endures forever, no matter what we have done when we confess our sin to You You are always faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of our unrighteousness. Everything You place before us is meant to teach, correct, and guide us out of walking in the flesh, and into Your Spirit. Lord, Lead us and guide us, have mercy and grace upon us, give us peace and comfort through our trials as well as any grievances we face, and as we look to You for help and guidance in every matter of our lives, lead us not into temptation, and keep us faithful to You in confession and repentance. I ask this in Your name, Jesus. Amen

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
