Message: Anointed In Christ

Hello My Friend,

Three times Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit in the form of the Comforter, [John 16:7-10  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  8  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  9  Of sin, because they believe not on me;  10  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;]

It is the Holy Spirit that we are anointed with through our faith in Christ as our Saviour that enables us to be able to stand before God as though we a perfect and holy. Without the Spirit of God in us we cannot even approach God. Why? Because He is perfect and holy. If there are any chapters within the Old Testament that proves that the sacrifices, priests, and even the feasts, all pointed to Jesus, it is these chapters. The priest was the one who would stand between the offender and God so that it would not be an instant death sentence for them. Since the priest was the middleman, he had to be holy as well, and since he was a sinner just like the rest of us, he had to be consecrated first in order to offer up the sacrifices required for the offender to reconcile with God. The priest could in no way defile his body, especially once he entered the Tabernacle, there was only one instance that allowed them to be defiled, but then they would have to be consecrated all over again.

[Leviticus 21:1-3,6  And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:  2  But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,  3  And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.  6  They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.]

[for her may he be defiled.] Defiled, meaning, touching or being around someone who died. If someone of their immediate family died they could take care of funeral arrangements, or go to the funeral. If he was close to his sister and she was a virgin when she died, then he was allowed to take care of the arrangements. [and the bread of their God,] Remember, when we accept Christ as our Saviour, we are offering His body and blood up to God, His body is more than the animal sacrifices required, but the bread as well, Jesus is the bread of life for every soul who believes in Him. And He knows whether our not we accepted Him fully, [I Corinthians 11:27  Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.]

God chose the tribe of Levi to be those who would serve Him in His ministry, that did not mean that He would not use any other tribe to serve Him, but they would be the ones who would work in service of the Tabernacle. God gave specific instructions on how they were to be separated from the rest of the tribes. The offerings offered (except for the trespass offering) we for the priests and their family members to eat as provision for the work they had done for God. God gets specific with Aaron and His sons,

[Leviticus 22:2-3,6-7  Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD.  3  Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. 6  The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water.  7  And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food.]

[that soul shall be cut off from my presence:] The items offered to God were sacred as they were what the people brought to them for forgiveness and atonement for their sin. If a priest, or anyone in the family were to eat of these things being defiled it would not be accepted by God because they were defiled until they bathed. [and shall afterward eat of the holy things;] This is the same thing as confessing our sin every day after we are saved, even though we are saved. Our salvation does not keep us from sin, it saves us from hell, it does not save our body from being defiled. This is why Jesus tells us that we need to wash our feet, the world defiles us. We need to confess and repent of our sin, and if you are truly walking with the Holy Spirit inside of you, He will tell you that you need to repent right when you do it, [I Corinthians 2:9-10  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  10  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.]

Why is it that there are so many people who die, never knowing who Christ is in the first place? Some were brought up in families that reject Him from the start, but more often than we realize many of them are leading lives that follow some evil religion or think they know who God. If we want God in our lives we must come to Him His way, not our own. Since God is holy, we must be holy, everything we touch or eat needs to be holy, and in order to be holy we need to clean of any blemishes, including sin. Jew or not, God explains why no person who comes to Him any other way, but His way.

[Leviticus 22:10-11,14-16  There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.  11  But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.  14  And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing.  15  And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the LORD;  16  Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do sanctify them.]

[But if the priest buy any soul with his money,] Jesus bought and paid for our souls with His life, if we want fellowship with God we must believe that He is the only offering He accepts. Therefore, if we know Christ as our Saviour, we are not only accepted by God, we become one of His. It is actually God who makes us holy through our faith in Him, [Leviticus 22:29-32  And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.  30  On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I am the LORD.  31  Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD.  32  Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you,]

[I am the LORD which hallow you,] Hallow; To make holy; to consecrate; to set apart for holy or religious use. God hallows us through our faith and trust in Christ. When we come to Him, first by admitting that we have sinned, then by believing that He bought and paid for our atonement with His own life, then by confessing that He is the only way to God and our salvation, that is when God hallows us, and makes us one of His own, [Romans 10:9-10  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.]

When we belong to God, He takes care of us, He provides for us, and if we do not acknowledge Him as being the source of all that is good in our lives He is going to start taking them away until we do. Because life can make our fellowship with God seem nonexistent, God institutes holy days (holidays). The Feasts of the Lord were observed as reminders of the freedom, gifts, and miracles that God had given to the Israel as He protected, provided for, and fulfilled His promises. [Leviticus 23:4-6,10,14  These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.  5  In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’S passover.  6  And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. 10  Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: 14  And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.]

[until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God:] We must come to the acknowledgment that we are sinners before God will even when we accept His own Son as our atonement sacrifice. We must continuously confess sin sincerely, or risk judgment from God. Keep in mind that since we are sinners, God has no problem with our working at repentance, [Luke 17:3-4  Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.  4  And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.]

The Sabbath, or Day of the Lord, is actually a feast day that we are to observe every week. We are to take the entire day to praise, listen, reflect, confess, and plea with God all while enjoying the food that He blesses us with, mind, body, and spirit. And not all the Holy Days were an entire day of Sabbath, which is why the Pharisee’s were able to crucify Jesus during the week of Passover, [John 19:31-37]. Now, the Day of Atonement may have been the most important to observe of all the feasts, but since Christ is our atonement, the Feast of Weeks, also known as Pentecost, is actually something that Christians ought to observe and feast upon.

[Leviticus 23:15-16,24,27,34  And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:  16  Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. 24  Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. 27  Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 34  Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.]

[and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.] The feast of Weeks [Harvest], is observed fifty days after Passover, and held in remembrance of the giving of the Law, which was given to Moses fifty days after they left Egypt. It was also on that day that the Holy Spirit would appear over Mount Sinai, [Exodus 19:16-18]. Fifty days after Christ gave His life as a sacrifice, it was on the Day of Pentecost that was when the Holy Spirit came down, and fell upon every believer. [Acts 2:2-4  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [Leviticus 22:11  But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.]

Today’s Prayer: God, How awesome is it to be one of Yours and that You are our God. You have called on all Your people to be holy and show the world Your Son through our obedience to You, as He is the only way to You. Lord, Give us Your power to stand by our faith and not be ashamed to show that we love Jesus. Let us not take for granted the freedoms that You have given all of us, even those who do not believe in You, and let us not forget to take time to remember everything that You have blessed us with. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
