Message: Pour Out Your Complaint To God

Hello My Friend,

We saved, born again faithful Christians, see all the evil taking place, and the wicked people taking over our nations and it is not only heartbreaking, it is down right devastating to see what the world is coming to, especially the Church. We do not want to be in the midst of all the chaos as they rebel and become down right fools, bringing their own judgment upon themselves. We do not want to suffer with poverty, disease, war when we have done nothing to deserve it. Nevertheless, here we are, smack dab right in the middle of it all. So, what are we to do? Trust God, and stay faithful, especially when we start getting persecuted for our faith. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” – II Peter 3:9-10.

not willing that any should perish,” We are not here to save ourselves, Christ has already saved us by our faith and trust in Him alone for our salvation. We are here to tell the world the Gospel because Christ will return as a thief in the night, and when He does, they do not want to be among the ones who will be judged for their sin. The Book of Habakkuk contains three chapters, the author is Habakkuk and it was written to the people of Judah. The timeline for these events took place approximately between 608BC and 590BC. The purpose of the book was to awaken Judah to their spiritual needs and warn them of the impending judgment from God. What we are to learn from the book is that the just shall live by faith alone. As you can imagine, there must have been many Jews trying to figure out what was going on as they were captured and taken to Babylon. Some of them did address their complaints to God, and one of them was Habakkuk, brings his complaint before God.

O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.” – Habakkuk 1:2-7.

therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.” Habakkuk is angry that he has to suffer through this when he has done nothing wrong, and wonders why is He using the wicked Chaldean’s of all people. While God does answer him, he is not quite content with His answer, he did not want to hear that He was going to work a great work in his days. Habakkuk brings more of his complaint before God. “Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?” – Habakkuk 1:12-17.

wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously,” Habakkuk is asking God why He does not deal with them Himself instead of using people more wicked then they are, people who are not, in fact, His people. The most interesting thing about how God handles judgment is that He allows the world to judge His people while blessing them in the process. So, why does He do this? Again, He is “not willing that any should perish,”, by His allowing the wicked to prosper while He judges His people He is attempting to get them to repent and turn to Him as well. While it does not work all the time, it did work for some, as in the case of Nebuchadnezzar. His faithful are going to suffer for the sins of the world, but we must understand that the judgment we face today for our righteousness is nothing compared to what the wicked will face for their sin. Besides, we belong to Christ, and since God made Him to be sin for us that we might not face the judgment the rest of the world will face, we too are going to suffer in our righteousness until He brings us home.

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” – II Corinthians 5:18-21.

not imputing their trespasses unto them;” We can fuss at God all we want for all the evil that is going on, and wonder why they are not getting what they deserve, but God is standing on the sidelines on this, He does not have to do anything Himself because they are destroying themselves within themselves. When you stop to think about it, we truly are blessed to suffer in our righteousness rather than for what they are suffering in their sin. And it is okay to bring our complaint before God, He wants to hear them, the problem is, we may not always like the answer. Habakkuk just complained to God again, and now is waiting for Him to reprove him.

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them? Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!” – Habakkuk 2:1-4,7-9.

and what I shall answer when I am reproved.” We somehow get it in our heads that we cannot ask God why or bring our complaints to Him. God wants to hear our complaints, He wants us to ask questions, but He also wants our trust, and our faithfulness to Him despite our not understanding what it going on. You see, when God allows us to suffer, it is not that He does it to punish us, He does it to draw us closer to Him, to get us to see that it is all in His hands and His time. Of course, it is okay to bring our complaint to Him, and when we do we will discover in His time that the just do live by faith. Amen! Since we belong to Jesus we can expect some suffering, even for things we did do, but what is more important than now is what we will receive when all this is over. Habakkuk realized that while God does allow the pain and suffering in the world because of sin, His faithful will overcome.

Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.” – Habakkuk 3:13,16-19.

I will joy in the God of my salvation.” No matter what we go through, no matter what we put ourselves through, we belong to Jesus, if we are saved, He is our strength, and we will overcome for He is the God of our salvation. We are going to face famines, persecution, chastisement for our own sins, rejoice anyway, it is only temporary, He will make our feet like hinds feet. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” – I Peter 5:6-9.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.” – Habakkuk 1:12.

Today’s Prayer: (Excerpts from Psalm 102) A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD. God, Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily. I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations. Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee. Amen! I love You, Lord and ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
