Message: Let God Plow Your Field

Hello My Friend,

I was reading a message that I wrote four years ago and realized that I was in a similar state earlier this year. I have to admit that whenever things get overwhelming for me, I am prone to just cast it all out, and start over again from scratch. While that is good, the problem is often with doing that is that we do not take care of the problem, and then it all comes back eventually, and with even more things to deal with. I believe that when Christians get overwhelmed with life it usually means there is something going on that they have been trying to deal with on their own rather than give it over to God. And while God does want us to put some effort with our faith, He also wants us to let Him show us what to do so He can help us overcome the burdens of life, even if it is something we brought on ourselves. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” – I Peter 5-6.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,” It is hard to be humble under the mighty hand of God when the heart is full of pride or unrepentant sin, but if we can then He will be more than happy to help us. The Book of Micah contains seven chapters, the author is Micah and it was written to Israel and all nations. The timeline for these events took place approximately between 758BC and 710BC. The purpose of the book is a call to repentance to avoid judgment. What we are to learn from the book is that God judges all, and pardons all who repent and trust in Him for their salvation. Micah was prophesying at the same time Isaiah was, preaching the same message, Micah was sent to Samaria to remind them of their sin and why the judgment stood.

Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple. For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place. For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem? Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof. And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.” – Micah 1:2-7.

For the transgression of Jacob is all this,” Why is God judging the entire earth for the things Israel did? Their sin. They were to be the example that brought the rest of the world to God, but they became of the world, and in many cases, more evil than the world. The people of the world do what is right in their own eyes, unknown to God’s ways, and even if they believe in God they have no one to guide them in His ways, and therefore, they make up their own. God’s people have His Word with them, and yet still live in sin, and they teach their lies to the world. In fact, through Micah, God addresses these lying prophets.

Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them. Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God. But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.” – Micah 3:5-8,11-12.

and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.And this is the very state of the church today, they welcome sin into His Church, say it is from God, and that because they are saved no harm will come to them. And they wonder why God is so angry? And God has had it with the lying prophets, and all the sin they allow in His Church, and He will plow it down so that He can remove the idols and false gods these churches have in them. Sometimes we do need to let God plow down our own fields, wipe them clean of any idols or sin that may be in them. We are not perfect, and we do not always understand what is sin, but we are to study God’s Word to know His ways, and once we do understand that we have an unrepentant sin, we are to repent of it, turn away from it, and do it no more. Christ is not a free ticket to remain in sin, we are new creatures, wiped clean with His blood that is upon our souls, therefore, we are to be obedient to His Law for His sake. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” – James 4:15-17.

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good,” Do you think that God wants to see His people suffering in their sin? Do you think He does not want to fix their every problem? God wants to be there for us, He knows we are sinners, and is very merciful to us, He does not expect us to be perfect, but He does expect faithfulness and respect, and wants to know what He has done to deserve the treatment He is getting from His people.

Hear ye now what the LORD saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice. Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD’S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel. O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me. Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.” – Micah 6:1-3,6-8,16.

O my people, what have I done unto thee? While God is very merciful to us, and cleanses every sin when we come to Him in sincere confession, He does not want the constant sacrifices for redemption of our sins. Jesus gave His life for us, and anyone who values life ought to think about just what He suffered through, and saves us from, that is if you have truly received Christ as your Saviour. No, we are not perfect, and we never will be until we stand before Jesus, but if we are saved, we are new creatures, and therefore, our lives ought to reflect that by the way we are living at all times, not just when we get into trouble, not just when we are in public, at all times. “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” – Matthew 12:35-37.

and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Of course, Jesus is referring to those whom never sincerely called out to Him and asked Him to save them before they died. Jesus knows who are His, and the lives we live after we are saved ought to reflect that, especially if we know that something we are doing is sinful, and we remain doing it. We think we can get a handle of life all on our own, we think we can get rid of sin by ourselves, but we cannot, if we truly want God’s hand upon our lives, and all His blessings that come with it, we need Him.

Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house. Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” – Micah 7:5-9,18-19.

when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.The just falls seven times, and gets back up, and gets closer to Christ than the last time. Because we carry this wretched flesh, and under certain circumstances, especially those who do not have Christ close by them, any of us can be influenced by those who are in the world, and fall into sin. More Christians get hurt by loved ones than anyone else, but Jesus is above all that, and can help us overcome anything, even forgiving them, as long as we give it over to Him. “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him. Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked; For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.” – Proverbs 24:16-20.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” – Micah 5:2.

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, I know I have had my share of messes in life, the amazing thing is that You were there to clean it up for me when I called on You. I know I tried so many times to do things on my own, but time and time again You remind me of how weak I am in my flesh. Thank You for giving me the strength to come to You in the first place, and even though I still mess up, I know You are always there to pick me back up again. Lord, I know that it is better to be obedient than sacrifice, keep me faithful to You by staying in Your Word, and being accountable for the things I learn, help me to keep my eyes on You at all times, and not look to sinful man for guidance in Your ways, trusting that You will shine Your Light upon me. In Your name Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
