Message: Keeping The Landmarks

Hello My Friend,

Landmarks; A mark to designate the boundary of land; any mark or fixed object; as a marked tree, a stone, a ditch, or a heap of stones, by which the limits of a farm, a town, or other portion of territory may be known and preserved. Landmarks are important, they are what define our nations and lives as we know them. Without landmarks we have no vision, we have no reason, and we have no worth. There is a great push to remove a lot of the landmarks that define our countries, if they can remove them then they can remove hope of a better life not dependent on them. They have removed some and they will remove more, but one thing is sure, they cannot erase history, and it will come back to haunt them. “Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.” – Proverbs 23:10-11.

“For their redeemer is mighty;” There is only one Redeemer, and He lives, and He is Jesus Christ, and when you stop to think about the landmarks they try to remove, you will realize it has more to do with trying to remove God as the reason than history itself. The wicked world has one agenda, and that is to get the people dependent on them alone, they do not want anyone dependent upon God because they would lose votes, yes I said votes. And in case you have not noticed, there is more poverty among those who are dependent upon an ungodly and wicked government than those that built their nations around the Word of God. The world talks about God, but can care less about Him or His people, Job knew this even before there was a Bible, and he talks about how bad the wicked treat the people.

“Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days? Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof. They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow’s ox for a pledge. They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together. They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry; Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst. Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.” – Job 24:1-4,10-12.

“yet God layeth not folly to them.” When you think about the things that Job speaks about you get a sense that things were not much different back then from what they are today. No one really had a zeal for God, and those who did were faced with opposition. Job is beside himself, and at this point he could not understand how the wicked just ignore God and be blessed while he is having to deal with all this with no explanation, but he did know one thing, they too will face God, and it will not be pretty. “They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face. In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light. They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.” – Job 24:13-16,24.

“They are of those that rebel against the light;” You see, if the wicked world can get the people, and they are really good at that, to rebel against the Light, which is Jesus Christ, then they can keep them in the dark and dependent on them. When you rebel against Jesus you rebel against God, and let me tell you those who do become so dark they turn into savages, immoral, violent, drug dependent, hateful, pure evil, and actually become reprobates. “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” – Titus 1:15-16.

I do not know how long Job’s friends sat with him, but I imagine it seemed like a lifetime to Job as Eliphaz, Zophar, and Bildad constantly criticized every word he spoke to defend himself. Bildad speaks again, he is beside himself and this time does not even speak directly to Job. “Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.” – Job 25:1-5.

“yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.” These are those who cannot see that God makes everything good, they see infirmities as errors, and are so bad they even test babies in the womb, and if they have any sort of defect want them terminated. The wicked world sees people with infirmities as burdens on society that need to be eliminated for it to be a better world, but let me tell you, they are the burdens, too blind to see that every single life is perfect, just the way God made them. “How then can man be justified with God?” That is a very good question, and there is only one answer, Jesus Christ. Common sense will teach a person that because of their sin nature no one can be justified with God, no matter how good we try to be we can never be perfect. That is why God had a plan so that anyone can be justified with Him, not by any good that we do, but by the good of one perfect man, His Son, Jesus Christ. Job responds with a parable.

“But Job answered and said, How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength? How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is? He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them. He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it. By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?” – Job 26:1-3,7-9,13-14.

“Lo, these are parts of his ways:” Although Job felt like God had taken away his understanding of what was going on and that his soul was being tormented he knew that the Spirit of God was in him. “Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit. God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me. My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.” – Job 27:1-6.

“God forbid that I should justify you:” There is absolutely no profit in pretending that you know Jesus, the only thing it will get you is hell. While Job did not understand why he was being afflicted, he was not about to justify them either by admitting to something he did not do. No, he did not think he was perfect and never sinned, but he did think that God knew the steps he took, and was done trying to justify himself before his friends. We have no one to explain ourselves to except God, and He definitely knows the way that we take, each and every one of us, if anyone is a liar and hypocrite, Jesus will let you know it too.

“For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him? Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God? This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty. If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep. Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay; He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.” – Job 27:8-10,13-17.

“Those that remain of him shall be buried in death:” The saved soul may lose its flesh when it gives out, but it is not dead, it is alive and in heaven with Jesus. While the death of the saved are truly missed, and grieving is a part of life, they do not weep wondering where they are because they know they are with Jesus and will see them again one day. Every step we took before we were led to Christ and after is a landmark that we need to hold on to for they are what define us into who we are today. “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” – I Thessalonians 4:13-14. Praise God!

Jesus Christ Magnified: “Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep. Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay; He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.” – Job 27:15-17.

Today’s Prayer: God, When I am facing affliction it feels like I am all alone and everyone is on my case about something. It is a big challenge to find You in the midst of affliction, but I know You always with me and that Your hand never leaves mine. Lord, give me Your power to endure all affliction, give me the wisdom to know how to handle the situations that pop up, fill me Your mercy and grace so that I never lose hope of a blessed end to them, with Your glory shining through And let me never remove any of the landmarks that brought be to be where I am today, for You truly are the Light that led me to who I am today, and still guides me along the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
