Message: In The God Presence Of God

Hello My Friend,

Grace, I do not have to tell the faithful Christian just how amazing grace is, even my church kids understand grace means, gifts without merit. I give a prize to every student for coming to class, and if they participate they earn more. I have had people question why I give a gift just for them showing up, my response is simple, Grace. We all need God’s grace, but we all need to give grace too, for it is grace that actually brings repentance and dedication to God. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” – Colossians 3:16,24.

singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Grace is probably the most effective tool we can use to turn someone away from sin and to God. Many people truly understand the power of God, and want His presence in their lives, but sadly, the majority of them believe they can create a god, and God will not have that. Moses had been given a very large task by God, he was to lead the children of Israel to the promised land. Of course, that task was not very easy, in fact, while he was up on Mount Sinai getting instructed by God for forty days they had made themselves a false god. God was so angry that He was about to destroy them all, but Moses intervened and was able to talk Him into repenting. Now, God speaks with Moses, and reinstates the promise He made to them, but this time He would not be the one leading them.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it: And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way. And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.” – Exodus 33:1-4.

lest I consume thee in the way.By the grace of God through Moses’ intervention, God did not destroyed them, God had given much grace since the time they left Egypt, and this time they crossed the line with that false god they made, He could no longer bear to be in their presence. The people mourned as they stood by their tents watching Moses set up the Tabernacle outside of the midst of the camp, and watched him actually communicate with God outside of the tent.

And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle. And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses. And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door. And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.” – Exodus 33:8-11.

departed not out of the tabernacle.Joshua was not like the rest, he wanted God’s presence with him, and he went where He was. If we want God’s presence in our lives we need to go to Him, and this is why it is so important for us to find a local church that we can go to commune with God. Yes, we can talk with God anywhere, but there is nothing like an altar. While continuing to speak with God, Moses had some questions.

And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” – Exodus 33:12-15,17,19.

shew me now thy way, that I may know thee,There is not one God fearing Christian that does not have times in their lives when they ask God to just show them which way He wants them to go, and lead them there. In fact, I just had this very same conversation with God yesterday. Moses did not want to go anywhere if God was not there, but God assures him that He will be there with him. God also points something else out here, “and I know thee by name.God knows each and every one of His people by name, and it is through us that He proclaims His name. God will never send us anywhere by ourselves, He is always with His people, and His mercy and grace are only given to those who He chooses. Now, God commands Moses to make two new slabs of stone like the ones He made that were broken, and bring them up to Mount Sinai, where He did proclaim His name.

And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.” – Exodus 34:5-9.

and that will by no means clear the guilty;God’s mercy and grace are truly incredible, in fact, He could consume the entire earth right now if He wanted to, but mercy and grace never excuses sin, we are still guilty of our sins. And if we truly want God’s presence in our lives we will seek Christ for He is the only one who can pardon us from every sin. “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” – I John 1:5-7.

and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” God truly is gracious and merciful to cleanse us from all our sin through our faith in Christ alone. The word proclaim means to declare with honor. Every Christian should never be ashamed to proclaim they are a born again, child of the living God through Jesus Christ. If we cannot proclaim that we belong to Jesus, then perhaps we do not. Moses spent another forty days up on the mount.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel. And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face. But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.” – Exodus 34:27-29,33-34.

he took the vail off, until he came out.It is interesting that Moses put the veil on to speak to the congregation, then took it off when he was in the presence of God. You know, when we know Christ as our Saviour we really do shine His light wherever we go? And for that reason we can stand in the presence of God because He only sees His Son through us, but when we are out in the world they actually fear us because His light shines so bright. Praise God! Like I said earlier, many people do know the power of God and want His presence in their lives, and sometimes it takes a little fear for people to see there in only one God, and to worship Him His way. After Moses spoke, many came forward, willing to help make the parts that would build the Tabernacle.

And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying, Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass, And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded; And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD’S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments. The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.” – Exodus 35:4-5,10,20-21,29.

and every one whom his spirit made willing,” Many people proclaim to be faithful to God when things are going well, but the true test comes when He seems no be where around. There are three things that God is looking for when He steps aside and lets us, in a sense be alone for a while, 1) Faith, 2) Trust, and 3) Obedience. If we walk by faith and trust Him, then we will be obedient to Him, even when He seems as though He is not with us. “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” – II Timothy 2:24-26.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.” – Exodus 33:17.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for Your mercy and grace, as much as we try to be faithful to You, life seems to always put us to the test. Time and time again, You prove that even when we do not see You You are working in our lives, You are growing us, and preparing us for not only the task You have for us, but to receive the promises You have for us. Lord, If Your presence goes not with me, I do not want to go anywhere, lead me and guide me, give me Your power, mercy, grace, and Your strength to go where You take me, even when I do not see You. I ask these things in the name of Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
