Message: Dedicated To God

Hello My Friend,

I have been doing a lot of reflection the past few weeks, I imagine it has much to do with reading through Leviticus. I realized that the world was seeping into my thoughts, out of no where music I never listened to was in my head, and words I never speak in my thoughts, and one day, one of those words popped out of my thoughts and into my mouth. It was then that I knew I better get a handle on my spirit before things got worse. Now, I find myself intolerant of those who expose me to sin, I do not want my eyes, ears, hands, nose, or mouth subjected to their sin. You know, the closer we walk with Jesus the more intolerant we do become to others sins, and we do have a God given right to speak up. “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” – I John 5:16-18.

and that wicked one toucheth him not.” I was literally driving home from work early because I was not feeling well, screaming in my car, “Get away from me, Devil!” Do you know how many times God kept a car from running into me? Three times. The devil sure can afflict those who belong to Jesus, but he cannot touch us because we are kept in the hands of God through our faith in His Son. Praise God! We should never be afraid to tell someone that we are not comfortable with something they are doing, and the reason being, our faith. God truly blesses us for our faithfulness. Does He expect us to never sin? Of course not, He knows our flesh. What He expects is devotion, which includes confession, and repentance. God gave the law to Moses, it was what He expected from Israel, and those who chose to dwell among them, should they follow the law the entire nation will be blessed.

Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God. Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD. If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you. And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new. And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people. I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.” – Leviticus 26:1-4,9-13.

that ye should not be their bondmen;” Saved, born again Christians are not held to the bondage of the world, God has broken the yoke of its hold on us, and we are free to live morally and upright. Praise God! I have said it before, and I will say it as much as God leads me to, we cannot get saved and live in sin, things would get much worse for us, and I know this, which is why I am quick to pull myself out. And by the way, we cannot keep ourselves out of sin without walking with Jesus daily, and there is a difference between talking and walking. God, in fact, tells them if they do not follow His Law, they will be chastened seven times more.

And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.” – Leviticus 26:15-17,27-31.

And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons,” All this actually happened, what God was doing here was telling them what it was going to be like when their descendants forsake Him and turn to those false gods and idols. Let me tell you, the chastening one gets for turning on God after being saved really is seven times worse. This is why it does not pay to live a sinful life after we are saved, we will reap what we sow, and receive judgment well before we see Jesus. Why? We belong to Him. No, this does not mean a person loses their salvation, it does mean that they will suffer the rest of their lives until they repent. Or else God has had enough and brings them home. “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” – Hebrews 6:4-6.

seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,The first time I read this all I could think of was Jesus being back on the cross over and over again for something I did. One of my biggest frustrations is people who do what they want to do, and do not care if it hurts someone else. Personal conviction is what brings salvation, if they have no concern for their own lives they are going to care less of others, and if they get nothing out of it then they see no need to do anything at all. And yet, God is still merciful, after all the things He tells will happen to Israel, He never forgot the covenant He made with Abraham, and tells them He will remember them.

If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God. But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.” – Leviticus 26:40-45.

But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors,” You see, this is why we do not lose our salvation and God does not cast us out when we mess up, time and time again. We are not saved by anything we do, but by grace through our faith in His Son. Whenever we sin after we are saved, God remembers the covenant He made with us concerning His Son. Now, when we do get saved we belong to God, and then our works count, God actually estimates us for what we devote to Him. Through Moses, God institutes the estimation of the vow.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation. And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary. And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels. And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver. And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels. But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him.” – Leviticus 27:2-8.

the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation.” Think about what this entails, all the gifts and abilities we have come from God, and He gives them to us for His use. Between the ages of twenty and sixty we are in our prime, and can do more, which is why we are worth more during that age. That is not to say that one person is more valuable than another, it just means He expects us to do more when we are physically able to do so. And by the way, if we belong to God, everything we posses belongs to Him also.

Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD. None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death. And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD. And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.” – Leviticus 27:28-33.

every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.” Everything that we own belongs to God, He does not require that we give it all back to Him, but He does require that we give back to Him part of what He has given first. God gave up His only begotten Son to give us life, all He really asks of us is one thing, if we are going to be devoted to Him then love Him as He loves us. “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” – John 13:34.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.” – Leviticus 26:45.

Today’s Prayer: God, It is because of the great love of Your Son, Jesus, and His willingness to take on our sins to redeem us that we can receive eternal life through our faith in Him. It is truly amazing, the love You have for me and every soul, when I was lost, broken, and without hope, You found me, You took me in, accepted me, and made me one of Yours. Your mercy endures forever, only a Living and Mighty God can save a person from the destruction and bondage of their own sin. Lord, I want to devote my life to You in every area of my life, I want Your favor upon my life, give me Your power to live in obedience to your commands, to love You with all my heart, and to remove anything that keeps me from serving You more faithfully.. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
