Message: Shun Profane And Vain Babbling
Hello My Friend,
I post my devotion in several Christian groups, and get many comments, one person says nothing, instead lists several passages from the Koran. When I told them to stop, they wanted to have a chat with me, and explain some things. I flat out said no, and blocked them because I did not want to be subject to their false teaching. I am in the process of writing pages into the history of several religions, one of them is Islam, but I must do this in the strength of the Holy Spirit because it will come with attacks. There are thousands of books teaching what they believe God to be, but there is only one book that is true, which is why so many attack it, even so called “Christian” based religions. The world has this philosophy, keep trying on religion to see what fits, and let me tell you, the majority of the time, they choose a religion based on what it will do for them. One of my first converts stopped coming to church because the Mormons brought her family food, and paid their rent for them.
“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:2,11-12.
“but the word preached did not profit them,” Jesus said it himself, people do not follow Him because of the miracles, but only because they got fed. Jesus knows the intents of every heart, and if it is not solely fixed on God His Word will be of no value to them. As Moses continues to instruct and encourage Israel as they head into the promised land he could not stress enough the importance of keeping God’s commands so that they will be strong to be able to handle the people there, who worship false gods.
“Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it; And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey. For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs: But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year. For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.” – Deuteronomy 11:8-12,22-23.
“Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you,” Islam is quickly rising up as a prominent religion, in fact, they even signed peace treaties with the pope, in many countries, it is the only religion, and anyone who goes against it will be put to death. And this is why they hate Israel so much, God defends it, and will defend it until Judgment Day. True Christians do not have to fear these people, they are protected under the blood of Christ, therefore, God will defend us, as long as we diligently keeps His commands. We must understand that while we are not under the Law of Moses, we still must be diligent in our walk with Christ, and He will teach us what to observe and what no longer applies to us. This what Moses tells the new generation.
“These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks: And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee. Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes. For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you. But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety; Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:” – Deuteronomy 12:1,5-11.
“every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.” And this is the problem, this is why we have hundreds of religions based on God, everyone wants to do what is right in their own eyes, but they want God’s blessings. They figure if they rearrange some words from His Word, and create their own book, then they will be justified. God does not work that way, and let me tell you, at one time, I went as far as believing that things like being physic and reciting spells was a gift from God, but quickly learned it is all evil, and actually from Satan. Until we are ready to give our heart wholeheartedly to God, we will fall for any philosophy, which is why Moses tells Israel over and over again to diligently keep their eyes and ears on God.
“Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God. When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land; Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods. What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.” – Deuteronomy 12:28-32.
“and that thou enquire not after their gods,” There is a difference between learning about other religions and inquiring about them, to inquire means to check them out, and observe what they do. And let me tell you, if the heart is not wholeheartedly on God, it will be drawn to whatever religion fits their flesh. We need to approach those of different faiths will the full power of the Holy Spirit, He will teach us how to respond or simply walk away. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.” – II Timothy 2:15-16,23.
“But shun profane and vain babblings:” I have to give Muslims, Mormons, and Jehovah’s Witness credit, they are diligent in their attempts to get people to see their side of things, and are succeeding greatly by the way. They certainly put true Christians to shame as there are few of us out there teaching the true Gospel of Christ. God warns Israel, and all of us, not to divert from the truth, even if a family member were to preach anything outside the truth they were to be put to death.
“If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.” – Deuteronomy 13:1-5.
“for the LORD your God proveth you,” And this is why God allows all this garbage, are we going to follow Him with all our heart or easily be persuaded into following some other god. And by the way, there is only one religion, and any religion, even one that proclaims Christ, that adds to or changes one single word to alter the Gospel is preaching a false gospel, they are false prophets, teaching a false god. And any religion that makes God into the image they want Him to be is not God. “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” – Galatians 1:6-8.
Jesus Christ Magnified: “For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him; Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.” – Deuteronomy 11:22-23.
Today’s Prayer: God, Thank you for the gift of salvation by grace, it is still amazing that all we have to do is believe in the Gospel of Christ, and accept Him as the payment made for our redemption from death and hell. And that is it, there is nothing else that we have to do to receive eternal life. There are many false prophets, religions, and You know exactly who they are, they do not want to preach the truth, just fill bellies with their corrupt bread. Lord, We need Your power to overcome and defend Your Word everywhere we go. Lead us. Guide us, put Your hedge of protection upon us, cover us under Your blood so that we can keep telling the truth. Let us not get tempted to inquire about any false religion or god, and help us avoid those profane and vain babblers. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
