Message: Redemption Plus Atonement

Hello My Friend,

I have to be honest, sometimes as I am reading the Bible I question why all the rules in the law, and why things that are a natural part of life are considered sinful. Then the Holy Spirit gave me an explanation, there is a difference between atonement and redemption, but the two often go hand in hand. Atonement; Agreement; concord; reconciliation, after enmity or controversy. Atonement is when we are reconciled with God from being separated from Him. Sin is not the only thing that separates us from God, so does uncleanness. Redemption; To rescue and deliver from the bondage of sin and the penalties of God’s violated law by obedience and suffering in the place of the sinner. Redemption is literally Jesus giving His life in our place to be rescued from the penalties of sin, which is death and hell. Once we are redeemed by Christ we automatically receive an atonement as well because we are reconciled with God. “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” – Romans 5:10-11.

by whom we have now received the atonement.” So, once we were separated from God because of our sins, we are now atoned, reconciled with God through Christ. Just like a blood sacrifice was required for a person to be redeemed of their sins, one was required for atonement, even if there was no sin and the body just became defiled by some sickness or disease an atonement had to be made once they were clean. Lepers had the worse plague of all, there was no medical cure of it so if the person recovered it truly was an act of God. God gives the law on how a person who was be atoned once they became cured from leprosy.

This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest: And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper; Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water: As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field. And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days.” – Leviticus 14:2-8.

And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes,” The second we get saved we ought to be taking steps to remove anything that defiles our body out of our lives, and I am not talking about things we do naturally, I am talking about sinful things, if we learn something that we are doing is sinful, it is time to take the steps to remove it. Salvation does not justify sin to keep living is sin, sin is sin and we will suffer in our sin if we continue to live in it, especially when we are saved, have learned that it is sin, and are content to keep doing so. “What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:15-16,22-23.

Our salvation redeems our soul from the penalties of death and hell, cleansing our body from sin, it also brings atonement to our body as we begin to remove sinful things from our lives, but if we are going to be successful and see blessings from God it is important that we not only cleanse our bodies, but our house as well, that means removing any temptations that will cause us to defile our bodies. Israel was not even in Canaan yet, but He knew they would defile their homes as well, God warned them of leprosy coming into their homes and how they were to cleanse the home before they were to make an atonement.

When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession; And he that owneth the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, It seemeth to me there is as it were a plague in the house: Then the priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean: and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house: Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which the plague is, and they shall cast them into an unclean place without the city: And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they shall pour out the dust that they scrape off without the city into an unclean place: And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall take other morter, and shall plaister the house. And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that he hath taken away the stones, and after he hath scraped the house, and after it is plaistered; Then the priest shall come and look, and, behold, if the plague be spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house: it is unclean. And he shall break down the house, the stones of it, and the timber thereof, and all the morter of the house; and he shall carry them forth out of the city into an unclean place. Moreover he that goeth into the house all the while that it is shut up shall be unclean until the even.” – Leviticus 14:34-36,40-46.

and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession;Do you see this, “If I put the plague.”? God will allow sickness and or suffering in the home until the sin is removed. When we receive Christ as our Saviour our soul is cleansed of our sin by His blood, whatever we do that is sinful, whether it is with our body or not, defiles our house and until the sin is remove or the steps to remove are taken there will be suffering in the home as well. Keep in mind that sometimes we get sick or suffer pain not because we have unrepentant sin, but God has a purpose for is. “If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.” – I Peter 4L14-15.

Cleanliness; To remove all foreign matter from; to separate from any thing whatever is foul or offensive. I am a very clean person, my whole family is, and I hate when I have to live or work around someone who is filthy, but even as clean as I am I know I have not removed everything that is foul to God. People really have no clue how important it is to be clean, filth is what causes disease to spread like wildfire, which is why God saw it necessary to instruct them about personal hygiene, He even gives special attention to women menstruating. All I have to say is that I while I understand where God is coming from, I am so glad we are no longer under the law.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean. And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue: whether his flesh run with his issue, or his flesh be stopped from his issue, it is his uncleanness. Every bed, whereon he lieth that hath the issue, is unclean: and every thing, whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean. And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And he that sitteth on any thing whereon he sat that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.” – Leviticus 15:1-7.

And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes,” Think about all the things we allow ourselves to be subjected to, especially others living in sin. As much as we try to do what is right in God’s eyes it does no good if we are dwelling among others living in sin, especially if we condone it in our own homes. Sin, whether we commit it ourselves or are exposed to others effects us, if not worse than those who are committing the sin themselves. This is why God tells us not to be yoked together with unbelievers, it brings too much pain and suffering, and it will eventually bring us to fall into the temptation as well. “No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.” – Mark 2:21-22.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.” – Leviticus 14:6-7.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for being who You are, for giving us an easier way to be redeemed and receive an atonement for the unsightly things we do that make us filthy, as much as we rebel against Your Word You could just cast us all out, but Your love for us is unconditional. That does not mean You condone sin in our lives, even if we are just around someone else who lives in sin, but it does mean that You never leave nor forsake us. Lord, give us Your power and strength to remove the things in our lives that make us unclean, give us wisdom and guidance in how to handle situations that expose us to filth, and help us to keep our eyes on You so we can stay clean. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
