Message: God Is Always In Control
Hello My Friend,
We see and hear about all these horrible things going on in the world, abortion, gender rejection, socialism, drug use, immorality in unimaginable forms, all praised and worshiped. And let me tell you, all you want to do is lock yourself up, and hide from it all. It is all quite heart breaking and quite grievous, and yet we as Christians are supposed to go out into the world and preach the Gospel, oh, and by the way most of the churches these days, it is a watered down version of the Gospel that has nothing to do with Jesus. Yes, I am grieving today, and as I was praying this morning, actually fussing at God, He reminded me of something, He is in control. It is all in His time, we just have to trust Him, and do what He asks while we wait for Him. “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” – Hebrews 10:35-36.
“ye might receive the promise.” What was God’s promise to the Israelites? That He would set them free from Egypt, and take them back to the land He gave them. So, it has been so time pass since Moses stood before the Pharaoh and requested that they be able to leave, but he refused, and after seven plagues, their water was turned into blood, most of their livestock was gone, people lost their lives, trees and crops were destroyed, but he never budged. Again, Moses stands before the Pharaoh.
“And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him: And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD. And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me. Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:” – Exodus 10:1-4.
“that I might shew these my signs before him:” We often wonder why people can be so heartless, but it is actually God that does this that He might show His signs to these tyrants. We must not forget that while God is merciful and just, He is also patient, very patient, and while we may think that He is just allowing all these horrible things to happen, He really is not, He always has a plan, and it is in His time that it comes to pass. After all the things that happened, the still Pharaoh refused to let them go, and it was the people that suffered. There were some Egyptians that did fear God, they begged him to let them go worship their God.
“And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed? And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go? And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD. And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you. Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.” – Exodus 10:7-12.
“look to it; for evil is before you.” This was Pharaoh’s way of saying that he wanted them to keep their children behind as it would keep them from evil. You see, the devil is slick, teach them these wicked ways while they are young, and they will not depart from it. Why do you think public and private schools are encouraging parents to put their three year old’s in their “free” programs? Well, Pharaoh’s suggestion did not go over too well, and he drove them out, and then God sent the eighth plague of locusts, which covered the entire country, except for Goshen, where the Israelites were. This time, the people were furious, and demand that Pharaoh let them go, and he even calls for Moses and Aaron right away.
“Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you. Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only. And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:” – Exodus 10:1617,20-22.
“I pray thee, my sin only this once,” How often do Christians pray this same way? “God, forgive me of my sin, just this once, and I promise not to do it again.” Quite a few. When we pray for forgiveness, repentance needs to accompany that, and God will know whether or not we are true. Well, this time God did not even give a warning, the ninth plague was dispersed, and the entire nation turned completely dark, except Goshen, for three days, no one could even see their hand in front of their face. Now, it was time, the tenth and final plague, the one God had been preparing for through all this mess, but this time, no one could escape this plague, not even the Israelites.
“And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether. And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more. But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel. And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.” – Exodus 11:1,5-8.
“and after that I will go out.” You see, God is on a mission, and He will not complete it until it is the right time. God never forgot that these people were throwing His newborn baby boys into the river, and it was time for vengeance. I think about all the heartless women who have actually had their baby killed at birth, why did they not just give it away to someone who would love and care for it. That is just pure evil at its finest, but I tell you what, those babies are with someone who does love and cares for them, they are with Jesus. “and all the people that follow thee:” We may not have read it, but I am sure there were some Egyptians that followed them too. You really would have to be a reprobate in order to not fear God after what they witnessed. Now, death was about to pass throughout Egypt, and there was only one way to escape it.
“Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.” – Exodus 12:21-24,29.
“unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon;” This is proof that it does not matter where you are, death escapes no one, but one can escape death, that is if, they have the blood of the lamb applied to their soul. Sometimes we cannot explain or understand God’s judgments, why so many innocent people have to die for Him to prove that He is God to the world, and to the unrepentant Christian. Then again, we all have fair warning to repent to salvation, and unless we truly are reprobates, God will soften our heart to receive His Son in His time, before death, even if that last words we say is. “Jesus, save me!”. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:16-17.
Jesus Christ Magnified: “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” – Exodus 12:13.
Today’s Prayer: God, There is no doubt that You are in control of all things. I may not understand everything, I may not like everything, and I may even fuss at You about things, but You know my true heart, and for that You are truly merciful. Lord, lead me and guide me, help with to handle things I cannot control, to endure them, to trust You at all times through them, and to listen to Your instruction on how to handle them. Thank You for sending Your Son, for not seeing me as a reprobate, and softening my heart when You did. I know every single thing that I went through prior to my getting saved, and dedicating my life to You was done so would go on to serve You faithfully. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
