Message: Command And Teach Them

Hello My Friend,

I have a heavy heart today, one that has me praying, venting, and in tears, I have been really late in getting these messages out, and the main reason is that I am trying to juggle so many things at one time. Yesterday, the pastor read from the Book of Exodus, reminding us that Moses’ father-in-law told him that he needed help in teaching people how to live through God’s Word, and I have been reminded that Jesus has given me the task to help teach His Word. So, here I was this morning, all at the same time, praying, trying to explain what the Bible says about God’s take on sin, and trying to figure out my work schedule. Yea, and this is why it is noon before I get the devotion out sometimes. My schedule has been something of a mess, and all I have to say is, “Praise God!”. There is a million things that I could be doing right now, many of them ungodly, but God keeps me busy in His work, which means it is time to set some priorities, including serving Him, so that I am not wasting the day getting nothing accomplished at all. “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” – II Corinthians 5:9-10.

that every one may receive the things done in his body,” I have to admit that there are times when I think about something I have done in the past and feel ashamed as I am reminded that Jesus lives within me. Then I was reminded that I am forgiven, and that all is forgiven when I confess my sins to Him, and that I am not condemned because I am cleansed from all my unrighteousness. Praise God! As Christians, we must understand that we are not defined by our past, what matters is what we do today. We are a work in progress, and let me tell you, we are going to face some suffering as we walk with Jesus and fight the temptations that the devil uses to get us to forsake Him. All of Christ’s disciples face suffering, and persecution, and the devil will definitely use family and friends to do it, but the key to enduring it all is doing His work. Believe it or not, doing this will not only make us stronger, but lead some souls to Christ as well. “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. These things command and teach.” – I Timothy 4:10-11.

These things command and teach.” The Pharisees thought and taught that their religion was going to save them, and the fact that they were Jews gave them more ammunition to get people to believe their way leads to the Kingdom of God. Of course, Jesus always calls them out for who they truly are, we come again to the parable of the wicked tenants who killed the lords son. “Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.” – Luke 20:13-18.

and killed him.I was led to site this parable again to show that we must understand that God has sent prophets to teach His Word to no avail, and He even sent His own Son to avail, if they attacked and killed Jesus they will attack us, but there will come a time when they will not prevail. And let me tell you, there is no room in Christ’s church for man made religion, we cannot choose what we believe about salvation, there is only one way to be saved, and it has always only been one way to be saved, and that is the LORD. People do everything to try an alter this, from rewriting Scripture to making up their own, and even creating God in their own image, but God always sees their craftiness and will they fall to their own death in worse way. These people knew that Jesus was referring to them, and from that moment they sought every opportunity they could to catch Jesus say or do something that they could accuse Him and have Him killed.

And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly: Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar’s. And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s. And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace. Luke 20:19-26.

Why tempt ye me?How were they tempting Jesus? This was a trick question. The Jews believed that since they were the seed of Abraham they were free, meaning exempt from paying taxes under government law since they were paying tithes and offerings to God. If Jesus said that it was not lawful to pay taxes they could use it to turn Him in, likewise, if He said that it was lawful then they could accuse Him of going against God’s law. The Bible clearly states that while we are subject to government laws, they must not interfere with God’s law, which is why Jesus said, give to Caesar (the government) what belongs to him, and give God what belongs to Him. “Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” – Titus 3:1-5.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish,” As Christians, we tend to forget that we were sometimes foolish and are not condemn those who are or have done foolish things. Let me tell you, once you get in the Word of God and start learning how to live your life through Christ you start to see how foolish you were, and how important it is to study it for ourselves so that we can discern what others teach us. And guess what? You are going to get tested on that knowledge. People can doubt the authenticity of the Bible all they want, but that does not change the fact that everything in it has come to pass just as God said it would, and what has not, will come in His time. I often wonder what will happen when the prophecies concerning Jesus returning start coming to pass, and whether or not they will be just as clueless as the Jews were the first time He was here. Jesus gives a little insight as to what is going to happen prior to His return and the eventual destruction of the world, warns all His people that they are going to be tested, but He will be there with them to help them.

Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls.” – Luke 21:10-19.

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom,” You do not hear it on the local news because the world does not want you to know, there are hundreds of thousands of Christians are being killed every day, in fact, there have been more Christians killed for their faith than when the Gospel was first preached. So many people live in fear of that day coming, that they try to ignore the signs of the times, but we must not be afraid, we must tell people the truth, and pray to God that many will open their hearts to Jesus before it is too late. Nothing that man can do to us will destroy us, yes, we could die in the hands of some fool caught up in their false religion, but not one hair will be touched because we belong to Jesus, and we will be saved from utter destruction. “For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” – I Thessalonians 4:15-18.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” – Luke 21:27.

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, While I do not know the hour in which You will return, I do know that You are coming and want to be prepared. Lord, lead me and guide me, let me not fall into temptations or worldly pursuits that take my eyes off of You. Help me to be a watchful at all times, to be Godly, to endure all my suffering, to discern Your truths, to get all Your work in order so that I may be a witness and testimony to others so they too can know that You will save them if they only believe in and receive You as their Saviour. I love You Lord, and pray in Your name Jesus…Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
