Message: Anointed To Do A Great Work

Hello My Friend,

I was quite shocked the other day when I was at the Dollar Tree looking for some Bible to get my church kids, I looked through the aisle several times, and then I just said, “God, You know this is for You, show me where the Bibles are.”. Well, I went back down the book aisle, saw a slither of a book behind another box of books, and there they were, pushed behind another box. I could not have found those on my own, and I wanted to. While we are pretty capable of doing things on our own, there is not one thing that we do that God does not want to be a part of, that is unless it is sinful. “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” – I Corinthians 6:16-18.

and touch not the unclean thing;” As Christians, it is important to keep ourselves away from things that will defile us. We are not to be like the world, and if we choose Him, we must make the time for Him, not just get saved and do as we please. God gave Moses the instructions for the place where people could come and do business with Him, the Tabernacle, the priest’s clothes, and their being consecrated to minister to Him, and there was just a few more things He wanted to address before sending him back down the mountain. First, the altar of incense. And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of shittim wood shalt thou make it. And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee. And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.” – Exodus 30:1,6-7,10.

where I will meet with thee.We should all have an altar that we can meet with God daily, we can pray all day long, but we still need that one on one time with Him without any distractions. Once a year, Aaron was to place one offering on that altar, and it was to make an atonement for all the sin offerings made that year. Salvation saves us from death and hell, but confession cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Now. the next thing God addressed is a census tax. When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them. This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD. Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD. The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.” – Exodus 30:12-15.

The rich shall not give more,” Ransom; The money or price paid for the redemption of a prisoner or slave. Our souls are held ransom for our sins, rich or poor, there is only one price to pay for sin, and that is death and hell. However, Jesus bought and paid that ransom for us with His life, He became the sinless sacrifice that makes the atonement for our souls, and we are to never forget that or take it lightly. “For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” – I Corinthians 7:22-23.

Now, we come to the bronze basin, a bowl that the priests would use to wash their hands a feet prior to going to the altar. Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD: So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.” – Exodus 30:18-21.

that they die not:Remember, we must be clean from sin in order to be able to do any work for God, our prayers are not even heard unless we are clean. Salvation is by grace alone through Jesus Christ, but if we want to be blessed beyond that we must be clean. Even Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, telling them that it was necessary even though they were saved. And interestingly, we come to the anointing oil that would be used to anoint the tabernacle, everything in it, and the clothes of the priests before ministering to God.

Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office. Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you. Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.” – Exodus 30:23-25,30,32-33.

Whosoever compoundeth any like it,When we receive Jesus Christ as our Saviour we are anointed with His blood, and it is holy, and we cannot mix it with anything else or we will be cut off from God’s people. This is an illustration of people trying to get to God and heaven through other means than Jesus Christ. Religion may mimic Jesus Christ, but it can never replace Him, and those who try will be cut off, and that meas they will not be saved from death and hell. And finally, we come to the Sabbath.

Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.” – Exodus 31:13-17.

he shall surely be put to death. There have been incidents where people were put to death for picking up a stick on the Sabbath so, God takes the Sabbath very seriously. Now, it was not the act itself that angered God, it was their reason behind it. When the disciples were gathering corn one day for food on the Sabbath the religious people asked Jesus why they were breaking the Law. Jesus said, Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.” – Mark 12:5-8.

I will have mercy, and not sacrifice,” You see, salvation needs to mean more to us than just a free ticket out of hell card, it needs to mean living a life that give thanks to Jesus for giving His life to save us. If we remain in a sinful state after we are saved He is not going to bless us. Now, it had been forty days and no sight of God or Moses, Israel wanted a god to worship, one they could see, so they forced Aaron to make them a god.

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.” – Exodus 32:1-5.

To morrow is a feast to the LORD.How foolish was Aaron to do all of this, let alone proclaim a feast to God? And while God did not destroy him and still used him and his family for the priesthood, he and his family suffered for the rest of his life for this. God was so angry that He was going to destroy them all right there.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.” – Exodus 32:7-11,14.

why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people,Moses is reminding God, not that he need to, of His promise, and they, are well, sinners. I can honestly say that I spent about three years serving God without recognizing His presence in my life, day after day I struggled with depression, temptation, and my faith. I do not know how I got through it, only that it was by the mercies and grace of God. When we do not sense the presence of God the devil uses it as a way to manipulate us, and he is good at it too, but Moses was able to calm God down and the next day he went back up to the mountain to see if he can make an atonement for them.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them. And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.” – Exodus 32:30-35.

peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.” Peradventure; if by chance. Moses would have given his own life to save the lives of the people, but salvation does not work that way, it never has, we are responsible for our own soul. Even the people of the Old Testament knew about the Book of Life, and sin blots our name out of it. One of the challenges as a child of God is to give up sin, and since we are all stiffnecked, God made another way for our names to be written in the Book of Life, Jesus Christ. Only through Him can we be atoned of our sin, and get our names in the book of life.“And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” – Revelation 21:27.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.” – Exodus 32:15-16.

Today’s Prayer: God, I will never understand why You chose me to be one of Your ministers, but help me to remember that my labor is not in vain, and that my faithfulness to You is critical to the mission You have called me to do. As I remain faithful to You, and wait patiently for You, I know that You are perfecting me and getting me ready to receive what I have been waiting so long for. Thank You, Lord for Your patience with me, and doing a great work in me. I love You and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
