Message: And Many Knew Him
Hello My Friend,
There is something incredible when you actually see Jesus and know who He is, my entire childhood I was aware of Jesus, but never knew Him. Yes, we fasted for forty days during lent, and knew that He died on the cross, and we knew that Mary was a virgin that gave birth to Him and that she was extremely blessed, but I did not know Him. And I would like to admit that when I was a teenager, drawing crosses, hearts, and praying hands representing Jesus that I knew Him, but I did not. And I would wish I could admit that the day I sat on my couch, watching Joel Osteen, and asked Jesus to come into my heart that I knew Him, but I did not. When did I know Him? The day I realized that He died to save me from my sins, and He alone is the only one who could save me. People see Jesus pass them by every day, but to them He is just a stranger on the streets, to really know Him is to see ourselves for who we are, sinners. “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.” – I Timothy 1:15-16.
I envy those who got to see Jesus in the flesh, to watch Him heal people, to hear Him speak the very words that we read. The disciples really had no idea how blessed they were to witness this every day, let alone be able to touch someone through His power and see them healed. It is much easier for a stranger to believe than it is for our own kin, I believe part of that is because they know who they are and we too, no one can touch someone so much that they become a completely different person simply by their belief in one man. Jesus went back home, I imagine it was so that He could visit with family, He preached in the synagogue one Saturday, but no one knew Him pass the fact that He was the carpenter, the son of Mary.
“And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.” – Mark 6:1-6.
“prophet is not without honour,” Let me tell you, and we who are saved know this, but before you come to know Jesus, life is no picnic, you actually gravitate to the Bible because you are searching for some kind of help from the affliction you face. Remember the woman with the issue of blood? She tried every other thing before she saw Jesus. This is why so many people that grew up in the church who received Him at a young age find themselves questioning their salvation and truly receiving Him when they get older. Until we truly see who Jesus is to us we will not know Him. The more Jesus did, the more people heard about it and wanted to see Him for themselves. Not everyone who sees Jesus, and even gets healed by Him actually know Him, yes, they know of Him, but they do not know Him. Nevertheless, Jesus still has compassion on all of them. We find this out as the crowds drew bigger each town that He went to. The disciples got word that John the Baptist had been executed, they buried him and returned to Jesus.
“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. And they departed into a desert place by ship privately. And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him. And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed: Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?” – Mark 6:31-37.
“and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities,” People followed Jesus everywhere, He healed some, comforted some, gave rest to some, His compassion for all mankind cannot be compared to anything we will ever receive from anyone else, and let me tell you, we are but lost sheep having no shepherd. Until we find Him, truly know who He is, and what He has done for us, we are not going to ask Him to save us. People were coming from all over to find Jesus, and although none of them had seen Him before the second they did, they knew who He was. “And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.” – Mark 6:53-56.
“and as many as touched him were made whole.” How are we made whole? They knew Him. By accepting who He is, believing that He can save them, and confessing that they need Him to save them they are made whole. Jesus makes us whole by putting His Spirit into our souls, we must realize that we cannot do this without Jesus. We must understand that we are no different than the original twelve disciples, they did they same things we do, they even ran from Him when He got arrested out of fear. As Jesus got alone with His disciples He asked them a question.
“And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God. And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels. But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.” – Luke 9:18-27.
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it:” By receiving Christ as our Saviour we lose the life we once live, meaning we have a new life, one with Christ in our soul. Jesus changes us the second we receive Him as our Saviour, if we choose to follow Him after we are saved we will discover that the life we lived before Him was meaningless, but if we remain living the way we lived we are going to face much more difficulties. Why? You cannot get saved without it impacting you in some way, You now have the blood of Christ in you, and that is something Jesus does not take lightly, so of course, it will impact you. “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” – Hebrews 6:4-6.
Jesus Christ Magnified: “And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.” – Luke 9:35.
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, I know that You see everything that I go through, my thoughts, my heart, my spirit. I may not always understand why I struggle, but I do understand that You are always with me. You have truly given me a new life and even though I struggle with my past You give me hope for my future. Lord, lead me and guide me, walk with me and give me the strength to get through my trials. I know that You will take care of me, and lift me out of every trial as I keep shinning Your Light upon those who need You too as I endure them with You. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
